There is a long history of human habitation in and around the
Kensworth area with evidence that this goes back to before 10,000
bc.
The village was recorded in the Domesday Book as CARNESWORDE.
The people, and the area, have changed considerably since those
days, and more recently Kensworth has been a centre for brick-making
and straw plaiting.
Nowadays farming is a major occupation together with a large chalk
quarry although fewer people living here now work locally.
